Design Transforms is a lecture series from the Product, Ceramic and Industrial Design programme at Central Saint Martins, where expert practitioners are invited to share their thoughts on the idea of transformation examined through the lens of their work.
Tory Dunn has been a designer for over 30 years and feels that her career path could be viewed as a microcosm of the development of the wider design profession: through visual, product, interaction, experience and service design. She’s worked across sectors including telecoms, culture, electronic product, third-sector, healthcare and government.
In 2016, she moved into the public sector — first in government and later in healthcare — inspired by the potential of design to transform how public services respond to both user needs and policy intent. Her work has included leading design at HMRC and the Government Digital Service (GDS), and she is currently Head of Design at NHS Blood and Transplant.
